No Job? Try Consulting!

I have found four of my clients who were looking for jobs, all in different areas - entertainment, engineering, marketing and business development - found consulting gigs! Normally, but this is not normal now, consulting is a kind of detour from a regular job search and back into the career. In the past I have advised against consulting or freelancing because it takes time away from job hunting and may cause you to have gap in your work history. But now it makes sense. You can meet new people, show a potential employer what you can do or simply provide some cash to pay bills. How to do it? Many ways but often the most common approach is to consult with your previous employer. They know you and you know them so it can be a good match. Other possibilities are to go to competitors or to other organizations within the same industry.
Good luck! www.davidcoupercoach.com
